Roth and Sons, a local clothing shop. In 1978, he entered the University of Kansas to study advertising and journalism. Wooster graduated in 1982 and moved to New York City where he worked at an advertising agency. He started selling advertising space for New York Magazine in 1985. He was fired after one year. He was a consultant to the Thom Browne brand as well as for Gilt Groupe online clothing store. He was the senior vice president of JCPenney’s retail chain from 2012 to 2013.

Wooster worked as a buyer from 1987 to 1993. He was first a buyer for Barneys New York and then the Bergdorf Goodman chains. On September 3, 1995 Wooster became sober completely. He was the Calvin Klein fashion house’s director of retail merchandise from 1993-1995, and the Polo Ralph Lauren design director from 1995-1996. He was elected president of John Bartlett, an American brand. Wooster founded his own agency, Wooster Consultancy, after he left John Bartlett. Wooster was struggling financially in 2001 and did everything he could to keep his business afloat. Wooster first worked in a car dealership in Miami before moving to Los Angeles. After a couple of missteps, he eventually started working at Barneys Beverly Hills and later, for a few more years, he was working for two companies. He was promoted to general merchandising manager at Rozae Nichols in 2005 and then moved to the Splendid/Ella Moss creative services director position in 2007.
