Nick Champion is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on February 27, 1972 in Elizabeth, New Jersey, United States. Nicholas David Champion, born 27 February 1972, is an Australian politician. He is a member of Australian Labor Party (ALP), and has been a member of Congress since 2007. He represented the Division in Wakefield from its inception until its dissolution in 2019. In 2019, he moved to the new Division, Spence.
Champion defeated David Fawcett, an incumbent member of the Liberal Party of Australia, to win his seat in 2007.
Champion served as a shadow parliamentary secretary (shadow assistant minister from 2016) in Bill Shorten’s shadow ministry from 2014 to 2019.
In August 2019 he called for the nationalisation of Port Darwin following its lease to a Chinese-owned company.
Champion was the only Labor member to win Wakefield in 2007 with a 56.6 per cent two-party vote. Champion secured the seat as a safe Labor seat at the 2010 election, with a 62 per cent two-party vote. He was also the first Labor member elected to Wakefield. The South Australian federal redistribution of 2011 had the largest impact on Wakefield, where the Labor margin fell by 1.5 percent. Champion retained Wakefield on a 53.4 per cent two-party vote, even though Labor lost government in 2013. This was the first time that non-Labor parties have won government in an election without winning Wakefield. Champion’s margin in the 2016 election was 61 percent, making Wakefield an easy Labor seat.
