Nic Dakin is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on July 10, 1955 in England, United Kingdom. Nicholas “Nic” Dakin, born 10 July 1955, is a British Labour Party politician. He was the Member of Parliament for Scunthorpe between 2010 and 2019. In September 2015, he was promoted to the Shadow Schools Minister. However, he resigned in June 2016. In October 2016, Dakin rejoined the Opposition Whips Office.
Dakin was made an Opposition Whip by Ed Miliband in October 2011. In May 2015, he was appointed Shadow Deputy Leader of House of Commons. Dakin was appointed Shadow Minister for Schools in May 2015 after Jeremy Corbyn took over the Labour Party leadership in September 2015. In June 2016, Dakin quit his Shadow Cabinet post due to lack of confidence in Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn. Owen Smith was his supporter in the unsuccessful attempt to replace Jeremy Corbyn as Labour Party (UK), leader election in 2016.
Dakin ran the 2017 Virgin Money London Marathon debuting with a time of five hours, 31 minutes and 17 seconds.
He lost his seat to former Conservative North Lincolnshire Council Councillor Holly Mumby-Croft in the 2019 United Kingdom general election.
He was elected in October 2009 to represent Scunthorpe and won the seat with a majority vote of 2,549. He won again in 2015 and 2017. He won in 2017 with 52% of the vote.
