Later, she decided to stop performing in music and spend more time with her kids.
Kavanagh, a twenty-five year-old, performed in RTE’s National Song Contest on 14 March 1993. This contest selected the Irish entry to the larger Eurovision Song Contest in Millstreet, County Cork later in the spring. Kavanagh opened the show at Dublin’s Point Theatre with “In Your Eyes” (lyrics by Jimmy Walsh and music by). Kavanagh won the National Song Contest with 118 votes from the ten regional juries. This was a 39-point advantage over the runner up. With this win, Kavanagh and “In Your Eyes” would represent Ireland at the Eurovision stage in Millstreet.
Kavanagh appeared on The Late Late Show’ s Eurovision edition in 2006, to perform “In Your Eyes” along with Linda Martin, and other past Irish Eurovision contestants.
