Neville Staple is one of the most popular and richest Autobiographer who was born on April 11, 1955 in Manchester, Jamaica. Neville Eugenton Staple, a Jamaican-born English singer who was born 11 April 1955, is the lead singer of The Specials’ 2-tone ska band The Specials. He also has his own band, The Neville Staple Band. He sang in Special Beat with Ranking Roger.

Neville has been touring relentlessly since 2004, in the UK, Europe and The Middle East with his own band. He also performed several shows and tours alongside Ranking Roger of The Beat, Pauline Black of The Selecter, Special Beat, and Legends of Ska. After managing and producing early for Johnny Zee, the Bollywood music star of Bollywood, he also helped to launch his career. The Rudeboy Returns was also produced by Neville and released that year.

In April 2009, Neville Staple set out on a reunion tour with The Specials. The same month also saw the launch of his biography Original Rude Boy published by Aurum Press. The book covers Neville’s involvement with the 1970s sound system scene and childhood in Jamaica. Then how a chance encounter with Jerry Dammers and The Specials led to his involvement in that band and Fun Boy Three. Neville collaborated with former BBC journalist Tony McMahon on the book and both are registered with the Blake Friedmann literary agency.

Neville has also worked on various collaborations with ‘The Mutants’ (Rhythm and Punk Review) including co-writing 4 tracks on the album – (one of them co- written with his wife Christine), ‘The Talks’ and Flipron as well as tracks with ‘The Dub Pistols’ (release 2014) and ‘Duplex’.

Staple’s 2000 re-recordings of hit songs by The Specials were released under The Very Best of the Specials, Fun Boy Three. However, it was not prominently labeled as a solo effort by Staple.

Some tracks featured Neville singing lead vocals, while others featured additional backing vocals and vocals. His vocal style consisted mainly of toasting or chanting to a rhythm, which was a precursor to rapping that was introduced to Britain by Jamaican musicians in the 1960s. Neville learned to toast on the Coventry sound-system scene during the 1970s. He was first on his cousin’s “Messenger Sound” and later on his own system, called “Jah Baddis”. He sang with the Specials, and wrote many of their songs. But he rarely received credit. He joined the Coventry Automatics in 1965, where the band already had Jerry Dammers, Horace Panter, and Silverton Houtchinson as drummers. Terry Hall was later appointed as the vocalist to replace Tim Strickland. Staple and Ranking Roger, from The Beat, joined forces to create Special Beat in 1990. This revival group played hits from both two-tone bands. This was due to the “Third Wave” of American ska. In the 1990s, Neville moved to California to join many of these new American acts. No Doubt and Rancid were among the bands he collaborated. Neville was also featured in the song “Explosive”, by The Planet Smashers, a Canadian ska band.

In 2004, Neville returned to the UK and formed “The Neville Staple Band”, releasing the critically acclaimed album The Rude Boy Returns, with contributions from Clash guitar man Mick Jones and Damned drummer Rat Scabies, with Flipron’s Joe Atkinson’s on organ. The group featured former members of the British ska band Bad Manners with Warren Middleton (Trombone) – later replaced by Spencer Hague) Stephen Armstrong (Bass Guitar) Joe Atkinson (from Flipron, Keyboards/Organ) and Matty Bane (Drums) Billy Shinbone (Guitar) Patrick Pretorius (from The Talks – occasionally deputises on drums).
