Halstead recorded also with Zurich, a side project with Knives ov Resistance members; the trio’s single album was released in 2009.
Slowdive, including Halstead, reformed in 2014, and released their fourth self-titled album in 2017.
Mojave 3 was on indefinite hiatus in 2006. Halstead decided to pursue an acoustic-driven solo career. This included a focus on British folk-inspired melodies and a love for surfing. NME compared Halstead to Syd Barrett, if he had ever stepped on a surfboard. In 2001, Halstead released his first solo album, Sleeping on Roads. Oh! followed in 2002. Mighty Engine (2008) was released by Jack Johnson, a surfer friend. Palindrome Hunches was Halstead’s third solo album. It was released in 2012. God Is In The TV described it as “an exquisite collection of dark folk music”, while The Times called it “undoubtedly one the best British records this year”.

Born in Reading, Berkshire (England), Halstead is a singer/guitarist. He is a singer/guitarist who was also the primary songwriter and frontman for Slowdive, a shoegazing band formed out of the Pumpkin Fairies in 1989. Slowdive has released the albums Just for a Day (1991), Souvlaki (93), Pygmalion (95) and Slowdive (2017).
Slowdive broke up in 1995. They became the Halstead-helmed Mojave 3, and released a series of critically acclaimed records that combined jangly alt country with dusky, psychedelic dreampop.
Halstead formed the project Black Hearted Brother in 2013, releasing one album, Stars Are Our Home.
