Nazik Avdalyan married Erik Karapetyan, a former weightlifter, on June 9, 2012 in Yerevan. Avdalyan was engaged to the couple for some time, but their wedding was delayed by his car accident. Avdalyan was blessed with a boy named Vache/ in November.
Avdalyan was involved in a car accident on Yerevan–Gyumri motorway. She was then taken to Gyumri hospital. Multiple bone fractures had been sustained and she also suffered a spinal injury. Advalyan was taken to Yerevan’s Erebuni medical center for further examination. She underwent lumbar surgical treatment on April 28. Avdalyan stated that she will be able compete in sports in 2013 after her rehabilitation. Avdalyan, after seven years of inactivity, made a big comeback by winning a gold medal at 2016 European Weightlifting Championships.
