Nazarene Soosai, the eighth child of Soosi & Panipitchai, was born at Rajakkamangalam Thurai in Kanyakumari district, Tamil Nadu on 13 April 1963. He was baptized 18 April 1963. He graduated from St. Aloysius Seminary Minor Seminary, Nagercoil and Sacred Heart Seminary, Poonamallee. He received a Licentiate of Theology from Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium, and a doctorate at the Pontifical Gregorian University of Rome. His Master’s degree in Political Science was obtained from the University of Madurai.
He was also a visiting professor at Madras University, CRI Theological Institutes, Bangalore, Sambalpur and Odisha, Salesian Theological Institute, Chennai, St. Paul’s Seminary in Tiruchirapalli, Arul Kadal in Chennai.
Pope Francis appointed him the Bishop of Kottar diocesan on 20 May 2017. His predecessor Rev. Peter Remigius and Archbishop Antony Pappusamy, as well as Bishop Eugene Joseph.

Nazarene SOOSAI (born (1963-04-13) 13 April 1963) was a Roman Catholic Bishop and currently serves as the Bishop for Kottar diocese. He is the sixth bishop in Kottar diocese.
Nazarene Soomai was ordained a priest on April 2, 1989. He was then appointed assistant priest at Our Lady Of Presentation Church in Colachel. The prefect of studies at Tamil Nadu Xavier Mission House, Nagercoil was he. He also served as secretary to the Diocesan Commission for Vocations. He was a priest in Enayam’s parish of St. Helen in 1992. He was then appointed dean and professor at the Sacred Heart Seminary in Poonamallee. This position lasted for eight years. He was appointed the parish priest of Our Lady of Ransom Church in Kanyakumari in 2011.
