The win took Aspinall into the top 16 of the PDC Order of Merit for the first time in his career.

Following Gary Anderson’s withdrawal from the 2019 Premier League, Aspinall was selected as one of nine ‘contenders’ to replace him. He would play a one- off match against Michael Smith on night six in Nottingham.

Aspinall was able to win his first ranking PDC title, beating Ryan Searle by 6-4 in the final at the 18th Players Championship in Barnsley. He was able to qualify for the 2019 PDC World Darts Championship with this win. Aspinall, who was a 500/1 outsider prior to the tournament, won the championship. Aspinall started playing in 2012’s PDC Development and Challenge Tour events. He lost to Max Hopp in the 2013 semi-finals of those events. In 2015, he won a 2-year PDC Tour Card through the Q School Order of Merit.
