Yurchenko returned to the Friendship Games in Olomouc after a long injury recovery and fought with Olga Mostepanova to win the gold medal in vault and the team competition. She won the University Games vault, balance beam and almost all other events in 1985. This was her second win and she contributed to the team’s winning gold medal at World Championships.
The Yurchenko vault and Yurchenko loop are named after her. The Yurchenko family is now a group of vaults based on the entry she used in her original Yurchenko vault (a round-off onto the table, followed by a back tuck, which is currently worth 3.80 points in the 2013-2016 Code of Points).
In late 2015, Yurchenko launched ‘Yurchenko Gymnastics’ to provide quality gymnastics apparel, accessories and equipment to competitive gymnasts.
She won the all-around title at USSR Championships and USSR Cup at the prestigious Moscow News tournament, four years later. She won all but the floor exercise at the USSR Championships and University Games in 1983. She was also the All-around World Champion and achieved two perfect 10s. After sustaining an injury in the vault final, she was unable to qualify for the finals of the uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercise events. She left with two world championship titles.

Vladislav Rastorotsky was Yurchenko’s coach at the Dinamo Sports Society in Rostov-on-Don. She placed 5th all around at the 1978 Junior Friendship Tournament.
