She donated US$25,000,000 to the University of Missouri with her husband. The money was used to build a new stadium for the Missouri Tigers. It was named after Paige Laurie, their daughter who didn’t attend the university. It was discovered that Paige Laurie had paid her USC roommate to help her with her homework, even though the roommate had left the university because of financial difficulties. On November 23, 2004, the Lauries surrendered their naming rights to the university. The university renamed it with its common nickname “Mizzou”. All mentions of Elizabeth Paige Laurie were also removed from the arena. This was to recognize the Lauries’ gift. The E. Paige Laurie Professorship at the College of Veterinary Medicine at University of Missouri has also been endowed.
