The film Oppression: Years of Torment (Arabic : snwt.ldhb), was to be produced in 2008. Anzour will be directing the film about Omar Al-Mokhtar (Libyan national hero), which Muammar Gaddafi wrote. Although there is no confirmation, high-profile actors such as Anthony Hopkins, Kevin Spacey, and Ben Kingsley were reportedly interested in the film. Omar Sharif was also initially announced as being in the cast to play Omar Al-Mokhtar. Later, Omar Sharif withdrew from the film, saying that he had other commitments. Filming was scheduled to begin on the Italian Tremiti Islands on April 14, 2008 for six days. This is the same island where many Libyans were deported during the Italian occupation. However, there are no indications that filming has been halted and there have been no other recent reports.
