Nadia Al-Sakkaf is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on March 8, 1977 in Yemen. Nadia Al-Sakkaf, an Arab Minister and politician from Yemen, is known as ndy@bdzyzlsqf. She was born on 8 March 1977. From 2005 to 2014, she was the co-founder of the Yemen Times. She then became the first female Minister in Yemen. After the coup, she fled Yemen and is now a PhD leader at Reading University in the United Kingdom. Nadia is also well-known for being from one of Yemen’s richest families. Nadia is worth 11 million dollars.

Al-Sakkaf was first to receive the Gebran Tueni award in 2006 from the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers and An-Nahar Newspaper, Beirut. She was awarded the Oslo Business for Peace Award in 2013, which was chosen by Nobel Prizes in Economics and Peace winners. It is given to leaders in business who have “demonstrated transformative and constructive change through ethical business practices.” BBC named her one of the “100 women who have changed the world” in 2013.

In 2012, she launched Radio Yemen Times, an FM radio station which was Yemen’s first free public platform for expression, broadcasting ten hours a day as an alternative to the state-monopolised media.

Al-Sakkaf was appointed Information Minister under Prime Minister Khalid Bahah in 2014. On 20 January 2015, when Houthi fighters stormed the capital and took control of all media outlets, Al-Sakkaf took to Twitter to report the coup. She later said, “I felt more like a reporter than the minister of information. I wasn’t scared at the time but I was afterwards when I realised the implications. My name was everywhere. I had more than 20,000 more followers on Twitter in one day.” In May 2015, Al-Sakkaf was living in exile in Riyadh as a member of the internationally recognised Yemeni government seeking to restore President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi to power. As of 2016, she is studying in the United Kingdom, and continues to serve on the Yemen Times board of directors, as well as writing about the ongoing situation in Yemen.

Al-Sakkaf was a volunteer in Oxfam’s 2003 humanitarian program. She was appointed editor-in-chief of the Yemen Times in March 2005. Al-Sakkaf, along with her staff, participated in the Arab Spring in Yemen in 2011 and played an important role in reporting on the Yemeni Revolution to the wider public. Al- Sakkaf belongs to the Yemeni Journalists Syndicate as well as the International Journalists Syndicate. She is a strong advocate for women’s right, and she successfully recruited female journalists to balance the newspaper’s staff.

Al-Sakkaf was the daughter of Aziza Al-Saqqaf and Abdulaziz Al-Saqqaf. Her father was an economist at Sana’a University and was the founder of the Arab Organization for Human Rights. He also founded the Yemen Times in 1991. She is the daughter of two brothers and two sister.
