Na Young-seok is one of the most popular and richest Television Director who was born on April 15, 1976 in Cheongju, South Korea. Na Young-seok, a South Korean TV producer and director was born April 15, 1976. Na is most well-known for his productions of the variety-reality programs 1 Night 2 Days and Grandpas Over Flowers, Three Meals a Day, Three Meals a Day, and their spin-offs.

After 12 years of service, Na quit KBS on December 18, 2012. His departure, along with other cast members, marked the end to the first season (1 Night 2 Days) (episodes 1-322). The second season was launched in 2012 with a new crew as well as additional cast members. The Human Condition aired without Na’s involvement.

While Grandpas Over Flowers went on hiatus in late 2013 (the cast was busy with their respective acting projects), Na produced the first spin-off, Sisters Over Flowers. Using the same format, he cast a group of top actresses (Youn Yuh-jung, Kim Ja-ok, Kim Hee-ae and Lee Mi-yeon) and pushed them out of their comfort zone as they traveled to Croatia. The show also reunited Na with 2 Days & 1 Night alum Lee Seung-gi, who acted as this season’s “porter.”

The next seasons were filmed in Taiwan (2013), Spain (2014), and Greece (2015). Actress Choi Ji-woo joined the cast for the Greece trip.

Na’s breakthrough came in 2007 with 1 Night 2 Days. This series introduced Korean reality programming to the road trip format. A regular cast of comedians and singers visited various cities across Korea, and spent the night or two there engaging in activities like camping, games, and sightseeing. Kang Ho-dong stars with Lee Soo-geun and Eun Ji-won. Noh Hong-chul and Kim Jong-min are also featured. Ji Sang-ryeol, Kim Jong -min, Eun Ji -won and Kim Jong-min later joined the cast. 1 Night 2 Days was quickly rated the number one variety show on KBS. It became a national favorite and a national viewing obsession, reaching a peak rating of 40%. It not only increased tourism to the areas it featured but also made the show a huge success with its cast and crew. Na appeared frequently onscreen during interactions between the cast and became a familiar face to Korean viewers. “Na PD”, a Korean term that means “producer- director” (or “production director”), was a common term used in Korean television.

Na made guest appearances on two scripted series on tvN. In episode 2, Reply 1994’s nostalgic campus drama, Na played a Yonsei University boarder as a joke about his real-life alma matter. Shin Won-ho, the Reply 1994 director and Lee Woo-jung, the screenwriter had previously worked alongside Na on 2 Days & 1 Night. Lee Soon-jae asked Na to play a police officer on episode 66 of Potato Star 2013QR3.

He also developed another KBS program in 2012, The Human Condition, in which six comedians (Kim Jun-hyun, Kim Joon-ho, Heo Kyung-hwan, Yang Sang-guk, Jung Tae-ho and Park Seong-ho) live together for seven days under certain restrictions, such as without gadgets, electricity, or water. For the second season in 2015, Na added a third cast member, Kim Kwang-kyu. The show’s difficulty level was increased with an additional four-month project depicting the process of growing food, from cultivation to harvest (the cast was strictly prohibited from grocery shopping). Na said, “Nature itself is incredible. I wanted to show the audience how hard it is to harvest the materials for our daily meals that can now be easily purchased at supermarkets near our homes.”
