Myke Roy is one of the most popular and richest Engineer who was born on July 2, 1950 in Trois-Rivières, Quebec, Canada. Myke Roy, born 2 July 1950, is a Canadian composer/recording engineer. His compositions include a lot of electroacoustic music and instrumental music. He is also a member the Canadian Electroacoustic Community. He was presented with the Sir Ernest MacMillan Award/Fellowship from the Composers, Authors and Publishers Association of Canada in 1976 for his works Sveln (piano and keyboard), Dramen Dzunkt (8 or more performers) and Tse Tnant/Te Deum (17 amplified instruments and tape). He was awarded the Robert Fleming Prize in 1987.

Roy also served as a sound technie for concerts presented by the Association pour la création et la recherche electroacoustiques de Quebec and the Societe de musique contemporanee du Québec. He has also occasionally contributed articles on electronic music to music publications, including the 1989 article ‘Le Statut de professionnel pour le compositeur/diffuseur d’electroacoustique’ in GUIDE magazine.

Roy joined the faculty at the Universite de Quebec a Trois-Rivieres in 1983. He taught courses on acoustics, electroacoustics, and aural perception and was the head of the school’s electroacoustic musical laboratory from 1986 to 1986. From 1987 to 1989, he was back at the Universite du Montreal as coordinator of the electroacoustic section. He also served as vice president of the Canadian Electroacoustic Community.

Born in Trois Rivieres, Roy started his musical education at the Ecole superieure de muzica de Nicolet. He studied there from 1970-1972. He continued his studies at the Universite d’ Montreal, where he received a Bachelor in Music in 1975, a Masters in Music in 1980 and a Doctorate in Music in 1989. Serge Garant was one of his main teachers at the UM.

Roy started his career in 1972 as a recording engineer. He worked at McGill University’s Electronic Music Studio from 1974-1975 with Mario Bertoncini and Alcides Lanza. From 1974 to 1977, he was also employed by the Universite de Montreal in the role of technician. He was a technician at the Universite de Montreal, where he worked on the Grand prix du disque de l’Academie Charles- Cros-winning LP Games and Songs.
