His last appointment was as Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Irrigation, a position he was appointed to by H.E President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2018 and relieved on 14 January 2020 n. He belonged to the Party of National Unity and was elected to represent the Laikipia East Constituency in the National Assembly of Kenya in the 2007 Kenyan parliamentary election up to 2013.
