Fischer began his racing career in 2004 with Domina Vacanze, before moving to Garmin-Transitions in 2010. He then joined the UCI Professional Continental team Naturino–Sapore di Mare in 2005. Fischer won the 2005 UCI Europe Tour at Naturino-Sapore di Mare. This was a testament to his consistency. Fischer was invited to join the UCI ProTour in 2007 with Liquigas.
