Muma Gee is one of the most popular and richest Singer-Songwriter who was born on November 18, 1978 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. Gift Iyumame, nee Uwame, was born 18 November 1978. She is also known professionally as Muma Gee (/mu: m@ dZ: /), which means “do good Gift”. She is a Nigerian singer, actress, model, fashion designer and politician. She was born and raised in Port Harcourt. Uwame was first exposed to stardom through the song “Kade”, which was released as the title track on her debut album in 2006. Wudi Awa directed the accompanying music video for the single. It received five nominations including two AMEN Awards (Best Picture, Best Costume), and one each from Nigerian Music Video Awards and Headies Awards.

She began to hint at the possibility of releasing new material in 2007 by the end. On 18 May 2008, “Amebo” was announced as the first single from the album. Muma Gee said that this song was the one she had always wanted to create. Even while I was at the University of Port Harcourt, I have been trying out new things. Now I want to see how I can do professionally. She explained what “Amebo”, specifically, was about. “I am a homegirl. I am an Indigenous musician.” I believe so much in Nigeria. So “Amebo” is a simple expression of our people, values and heritage. Muma Gee performed the song at an Ikoyi night party on 25 May. She also signed autographs and met fans at the event. After the event, Amebo was broadcast to radio. Muma Gee spoke briefly about the new album’s direction and content, saying that she discovered there were many love songs on the album. Perhaps I’m learning the rules of falling in love. Uwame rose to prominence in 2010 as a contestant on the celebrity edition of Nigerian reality TV series Gulder Ultimate Search. Prior to entering the show, she had worked on her second studio album The Woman in Question, that would be released a day after her eviction. “Amebo” and “African Juice” were the two singles released from the album. Uwame had also collaborated with artists and producers such as Samini, VIP, OJB, Cobhams Asuquo and Terry G, among others. In 2009, she was nominated for four awards at the 3rd Nigerian Music Video Awards. In early 2012, Uwame started work on a new album called Motherland and has since released singles “Port Harcourt Is Back”, “African Woman Skilashy” and “Jikele”. As an actress, she starred in the Nollywood films Last Dance (2006), Solid Affection (2008), Secret Code (2011), and The Code (2011). Among her accomplishments are numerous titles and honours such as, Oonyon 1 of Upata Kingdom, Queen of African music, Pop Queen, and Mrs. Ngor-Okpala.

In another incident, contestant Chioma Chukwuka defied Muma Gee and threw her property out of their tent. During June 2010, Muma Gee was invited for Thanksgiving at the Redeemed Christian Church, by Gus winner Emeka Ike and his wife Emma. There, she met and befriended up-and- coming Nollywood actor Prince Eke—Ike’s best friend—whom she felt was God-sent and who would propose to her seconds later. On 23 June, Uwame received an engagement ring from Eke shortly after he had arrived safely from work. She would then wed him the following year.
