Muhammad Nsereko Biography

Muhammad Nsereko is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on April 25, 1981 in Kampala, Uganda. He was born 25 August 1981. For his primary education, he attended Buganda Road Primary School. He graduated in 1995. For his middle school education, he transferred to Kibuli Secondary, where he graduated in 1999. He attended “Kawempe Muslim Secondary School” for his high school education. He graduated in 2002.

Muhammad Nsereko, an Independent member of Uganda’s parliament, has represented Kampala Central Division constituency from 2011 to 2011.

Muhammad Nsereko was re-elected to the 10th parliament (2016 to 2021), as an independent and he continues to be a leader against the ongoing amendment to change the constitution and remove the presidential age limit.

Nsereko ran for the Kampala Central Division constituency in 2011 on the National Resistance Movement’s (NRM) ticket. He won. He was vocal in his criticism of the NRM’s governing style during the 9th Parliament (2011-2016). He identified several points of disagreement with his party’s political party. These included (a) the conversion of Mabira Forest Reserve to sugar plantations (b), the scrapping of bail for certain crimes (c), he deplores high unemployment rates in the country’s youth (e), and he supports the reinstatement of presidential term limits, which were scrapped in 2005.

He graduated from the International Institute of Business and Management Studies (IIBMS) in 2005 with a Diploma of Journalism. He graduated from Makerere University in 2005 with a Bachelor degree in Laws. He was awarded the Diploma of Legal Practice by the Law Development Centre in 2007.

Nsereko is a registered and professional lawyer. He is also a member the Uganda Bar. Since 2007, he has been a partner at the law firm “Nsereko, Mukalazi and Company Advocates”. From 2006 to 2010, he was the chairman of Kampala Central Land Commission.

His open defiance of the NRM party, led to his expulsion from the NRM party, in April 2013, together with three other NRM members of parliament. The four became known as the “Rebel MPs”. In September 2013 the Constitutional Court ruled 4–1, that the four MPs should step out of parliament until the same court deliberated on whether they should stay. Three days later, on 10 September 2013, the Supreme Court ruled 6–1 that the MPs should stay in parliament until the Constitutional Court completed its deliberations on whether they should stay. Finally on 12 February 2014, the Constitutional Court ruled that the four MPs should vacate parliament. That decision was overturned by the Supreme Court on 30 October 2015, and Nsereko and his colleagues returned to parliament as independents.
