As a candidate of Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N), he was re-elected to the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab from Constituency PP-41, which was Khushab- III in the 2013 Pakistani general elections. He was elected to the Provincial Cabinet of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif in June 2013. He was also made Provincial Minister of Punjab for Forestry, Wildlife and Fisheries. He was Minister for Forestry, Wildlife and Fisheries from June 2013 to November 2016. He was appointed Provincial Minister of Punjab for Archaeology in a cabinet reshuffle that took place in November 2016.
As an independent candidate from Constituency (PP-41) (Khushab-III), he was re-elected to the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab in 2008. He was defeated by Malik Muhammad Ehsan Ullah Tiwana (an independent candidate) with 27,338 votes.
