- He is a former badminton player who later became a coach. He spent 12 years as a player in the top three world rankings.
After his playing days were over, he was able to coach the Danish national soccer team. The Danish national team won over 20 major international victories during his time as coach. These included an Olympic gold medal in 1996 and six gold and three silver medals for the European Championships 1996. They also won the men’s singles titles in the 1995 and 1996 All England Championships. In 1995, they also won a gold, two-silver and four bronze medals at their World Championships 1995. Later, he coached the South African and Malaysian national teams. Frost was also a commentator for the BBC’s coverage of the badminton tournament in Glasgow at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
In 2015 Frost accepted a contract to be technical director of the Malaysian national team until the end of 2020. Early 2017, Frost had a fallout with Malaysian former world number 1 player Lee Chong Wei regarding what Lee said was an unfair treatment towards him after his injury. On September 2017, Frost resigned from his position in Malaysia, citing personal reasons.
In February 2019, Frost signed a one-year contract to coach India’s junior players at the Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy.
Frost won nearly every top-level championship during his career, with the exception of the World Badminton Championships, where he earned a silver medal twice (1985-1987). His second World Championship defeat in the finals was the news headline: “The World’s greatest badminton player may not be World Champion.” Frost won the All England Open Badminton Championships, which may have been the most memorable moment in his career. In 1982, 1984 and 1986, he won the tournament. He was also the European champion in 1986 and 1984. From 1978 to 1984, he won the Nordic title each year and was again awarded it in 1988.
