From 2007 to 2011, Lewis was a Jacksonville State Gamecocks player. Lewis was the team’s starting pitcher for the final two-and-a-half years. He helped the Gamecocks win 32 games. His career included 45 games, including 28 starts as a defensive end. Lewis was named to the First team All Ohio Valley Conference junior team and second team All OVC senior team.
Lewis signed on April 29, 2012 as an undrafted, free agent with Washington Redskins. The Redskins released Lewis on August 27, 2012.
