The box must be opened to reveal the truth. The eye in Bulanda’s works is a metaphor that creates alternate realities and dimensions. We can affirm that the reality or dimension in the works, despite the fact that there is no dead cat, is the creation of the subject. This mystery, which is the act of creation, can be seen from a different angle.
The materials used and the forms and colours that change according to the perspective of the spectator are the traces that declare the democraticization of the act. Theoretically, each individual will see the work in a different way. Each spectator will see it as one of many possibilities. This creates a new dimension and reality. Bulanda is able to directly associate the eye of the spectator with her work. The one who creates it is completely ‘the gaze’, in line with Schrodinger’s experiment. Bulanda uses the metaphor of the gaze to reflect current political climate. Bulanda has already defined the act as a power relation. The eye now points to the power stranglehold of the “man in power”, while the variational, lubricious spaces on the toile indicate the distortion of “reality”. You can see the traces that supermodernity has left on surfaces where reality and fiction, rationality and irrationality blend together. The indistinct architectural structure that transforms the works into spaces that capture the spirit of time and carry out the thoughts Auge called ‘nonplace’ is especially striking. These narratives are the key question for the spectator. If man is both the creator of reality (reality) and the victim of it, then is it possible to centralize the concept of power? Is it worth fighting against the’man in control’? If all these relationships were revealed and recognized, could a change be made or will life as conscious cynical subjects continue? All these questions will be answered by looking at Bulanda’s work, or giving in to a metanarrative.

Although she had intended to go to art school, her allergic reaction to paints was a reason to not be able to attend “Bohemian youth at arts schools”, so she ended up going to linguistic school. She continued to paint as a hobby and worked on various art projects with other artists for many years. Inspired by New York’s architecture and multi-cultural aspect, she created her unique mixed technique of collage with 3D acrylic contours after visiting the city in 2010. She signed soon after a contract with Istanbul’s largest gallery of contemporary art. Her works were displayed at Contemporary Istanbul Art Fair, which attracted a lot of interest from art collectors. She opened a few solo and group exhibitions soon after. With her Kadin Matinesi, she recorded drums for Bilal Karaman, a Turkish guitarist. She has been involved in many Dj acts and appears on Jazz Festivals and concerts with jazz musicians. She is currently working with many Turkish musicians to develop her music project. She is also writing lyrics, music, and singing. She released her solo album, Forever I’ll be Young, in April 2015. It was produced by herself under the Turkish music label 3 Adim Muzik.

Not only through the techniques and materials used in her works, but also via the structural connotations of toile, can be seen, the traces which put forward Bulanda’s artistic practise. However, contrary to her previous series, the artist explores an abstract space rather than material themes, along with ‘journey of the unknown’.
