It was voted second by nine people. Buffini wrote A Vampire Story, an adaptation of her play for Neil Jordan’s screenplay in Byzantium. It was released in 2013.
On the 21 January 2015, it was announced that Manchester International Festival would premier wonder.land, a new musical with music by Damon Albarn, book and lyrics by Moira Buffini and direction from Rufus Norris. wonder.land is inspired by Alice In Wonderland by Lewis Carroll and is a co-production with The National Theatre.
Buffini wrote Dying For It in 2007 for the Almeida. It was a free adaptation from Nikolai Erdman’s classic, The Suicide. It was followed by Marianne Dreams, a dance performance with Will Tuckett based on Catherine Storr’s book. A Vampire Story, her play for young people was part of NT Connections 2008. In 1996, she was a writer’s attachment at the Royal National Theatre Studio.

Buffini was the daughter of Irish parents and was born in Cheshire. She attended Northwich County Grammar School For Girls, which later became The County High School, Leftwich. She studied English and drama at Goldsmiths College in London (1983-1986). After graduating from the Welsh College of Music and Drama, she trained as an actor.
Jordan was co-written by Anna Reynolds in 1992. She won the Time Out Award for her performance as well as the Writers Guild Award for Best Fringe Play. Gabriel, her 1997 play, was performed at Soho theatre. It won the LWT Plays on Stage award as well as the Meyer-Whitworth Award. Buffini won the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize in 1999 for her play Silence. Loveplay was followed at the RSC in the year 2001. Then came Dinner at the National Theatre, in the year 2003. This play won the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize for best English-language play by a woman. In the West End, it was transferred to the West End where it was nominated and received an Olivier Award as Best Comedy.
