Mohammad Tofiq Rahim is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on July 1, 1953 in Sulaymaniyah, Sulaymaniyah Governorate, Iraq. Rahim, also known as Hama Tofiq was born in Sulaimaniyah in Iraqi Kurdistan, in 1953. Rahim received his initial education in Sulaimaniyah. He then attended Mustansariyah University, Baghdad. After completing his graduate studies in France-Sorbonne University, Rahim traveled to the United Kingdom and France. From an early age, he was involved in Kurdish student politics and joined the Peshmerga immediately after his return to Kurdistan.

Rahim quit the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan in 2006 citing endemic corruption, nepotism and other reasons.

After the fall of Saddam Hussein’s regime, Rahim was elected Minister of Industry and Mines by the Interim Iraq Governing Council in September 2003.

Mohammad Tofiq Rahim, Kurdish: mHhmhd toefyq-rhHym), was born in 1953. He is an Iraqi Kurdish politician. Rahim was born in Sulaimaniyah in 1953 and is the current secretary of the internal department of the largest opposition group in Iraqi Kurdistan, Movement for Change.

Mohammad Tofiq Rahim was a Kurdish politician who returned to Kurdistan after his return in 1979. As a member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, he was active in Kurdish politics. He quickly rose to high office as a Political bureau member responsible for external relations. This is partly due to his proficiency in several European languages. His passion for languages is evident. He can speak fluently in English, French, and German, as well as Kurdish. He was the founder editor of Kurdistani Nwe, the party’s main newspaper. He also helped organize the 1991 uprising that saw the Kurds defeat Saddam Hussein’s Baathist regime. Rahim was elected the first deputy speaker in the region. Following his election, he held several posts in the Kurdistan Regional Government, including minister of humanitarian ressources (the new government’s foreign office), minister of justice, minister of transportation and minister of planning.

After his resignation from the PUK, Rahim was a founding member of the Movement for Change under the leadership of Nawshirwan Mustafa. He was initially the movement’s official spokesman and is now responsible for the external relations of the organisation. He was a key campaigner in the Change lists 2009 election campaign in Sulaimaniyah in which Change took a quarter of the region’s parliamentary seats and swept Sulaimaniyah Governorate.
