Daimary, who wrote poetry under the pseudonym Megan Kachari, has three collections. The World Book Fair in Frankfurt published an English translation of some his poems in 2006. UBSPD published Melodies and Guns (ISBN: 9788174765802), a collection of his poems in response to Mamoni Raisom Goswami, a Jnanpith Awardee. Memsahib Prithibi, a collection of his Assamese poetry, has been translated into English by Pradeep Acharya and Manjeet Barruah as “Melodies and Guns”. Dr Goswami wrote the preface to this book. Since before he joined ULFA, Dr Goswami has been writing poetry. He had several birds as pets while at camp. He wanted them to go with him on the night of crackdown when everyone fled. He found them asleep and waited for them, but it was too late,” Dr Mamoni Raisom Goswami said.

During Operation All Clear, December 2003, he was captured by Royal Bhutan Army. The Indian Army handed him over to Bhutan, who then handed him over to Assam Police. Daimary, in defiance before the Chief Judicial Judge of Nalbari, said that he would not surrender to the government and would fight until the end. Daimary also stated that the Bhutanese operations were quite unexpected. He was released from prison to facilitate peace negotiations between the Government of India (GoI) and the ULFA. After his arrest, Apurba Barutah was appointed his successor.
