He previously played for the Townsville Crocodiles (Illawarra Hawks), Southland Sharks (Southland Sharks) and the Townsville Heat in Queensland Basketball League.

Norton was added to the Crocodiles’ roster in 2012 and averaged 4.1 points per game during the 2012-13 NBL season. In 2013-14, he improved tremendously with 6.9 points and 2.6 assists per game in 27 games. He also led the league in free throw percentage at 88.5%. In honour of the Players Player Award, he was presented with the Mark Bragg Medal at season’s end gala night. He was also awarded the Mike Kelly Medal as the Best Defensive Player for the Crocodiles’ 2013-14 Team.

In 2014–15, Norton again earned the Mark Bragg Medal after averaging 7.9 points and 2.9 assists in 28 games.

On 13 October 2016, Norton suffered a hamstring injury in the Hawks’ second game of the 2016–17 season. On 14 February 2017, he re-signed with the Southland Sharks for the 2017 New Zealand NBL season.

Norton was selected in the 2012 Australian Stankovic Cup team in July 2012. The Boomers finished in second place.
