Mirza Abbas is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on February 7, 1951 in Kishoreganj District, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Abbas was born in Kishoreganj (East Bengal) on 7 February 1951 to Abdur Razzak, a businessman, and Kamla Khatun. His education was in Kishoreganj’s local schools. In 1966, he was admitted to University of Dhaka. The university awarded him his Bachelor of Commerce degree on February 22, 1972.

The Ministry under his leadership also developed Private Housing Land Development Rules. This guideline was created to simplify real estate developers involved in the filling of thousands of acres of flood flow and wetland zones. He was elected to the party’s 5th National Council of Bangladesh Nationalist Party of 2009. This was in recognition of his contributions to the party. Later, he was appointed the convener for the party’s Dhaka unit. He submitted his nomination form in 2015 to run for mayoral office from Dhaka South City Corporation.

In 1991, Abbas was elected mayor of Dhaka City Corporation. He held that office until December 1993. Mirza Abbas was later elected as a member from capital Dhaka in 2001. He was elected Minister of Housing and Public Works. Mirza Abbas was a minister who focused time and again on strict enforcement of the Wetland Protection Act in order to prevent flooding and environmental balance. Under his capable leadership, the Ministry of Housing and Public Works amended the Building Construction Rules which was finally enacted December 2006.

Mirza Abbas Uddin Ahmed (born 7 Feb 1951), is a politician of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party. From 1991 to 1993, he was Mayor of Dhaka City Corporation. From 1991 to 1993, he was the Mayor of Dhaka City Corporation. Mirza Abbas is a member of the national standing committee of Bangladesh Nationalist Party.

Abbas was among the leaders who began their political careers with the formation of Bangladesh Nationalist Party. He also worked alongside President Ziaur Rahman. Abbas was known for his proliberation work in the party. He refused to work alongside anti-liberation elements, and complained about them to party chief. Mirza Abbas was a key figure in the 1980s movement against Hussain Mohammed Ershad’s autocratic rule. He was one of the leaders that orchestrated the uprising in Bangladesh in 1990.

After obtaining his Bachelor of Commerce degree, Abbas joined his family business named Mirza Enterprises. Mirza Abbas is the founder of Dhaka Bank Limited. Mirza Abbas was officially introduced to the Board of Dhaka Bank Limited as an Alternate Director in November 1995. He was appointed Director of the bank on 29 March 2012.
