Mirela Holy, a Croatian politician who was born 15 December 1971, is the former leader of the centre- left Croatian Sustainable Development party. From 2011 to 2012, she was Croatia’s Minister for Environment. She is the first and only woman to have held this post.
She resigned from the Social Democratic Party in 2013 because she disagreed with its environmental policies. Holy, who was then expelled from the Social Democratic Party (SDP) formed a new party called ORaH. ORaH stands for Odrzivi razvoj Hrvatske.
She is a well-known Croatian woman politician and an important supporter of LGBT rights and women’s equality. In 2012, she was named “Croatian homofriend”.

After an uproar over an email in the which she asked HZ Holding manager to reconsider firing her secretary, she resigned her post on June 6, 2012. She was an elderly woman who had more than 15 years experience and had been working for HZ Holding less than one month. Mihael Zmajlovic was her successor as minister.
