Miracle of Sound is one of the most popular and richest Songwriter who was born on May 6, 1980 in Cork, Ireland. Gavin Dunne, born May 6, 1980 in Cork (Ireland), is an Irish indie musician best known for his music that was inspired by TV, movies, and video games. His music is not well-known in Ireland, but he is well-known online and has been called Ireland’s most successful independent musician. Although Miracle of Sound is a one-man band, Dunne does occasionally work with other musicians or singers. His songs are varied in their genres, with Dunne using the most appropriate genre for the song. These include rock, pop and electronic rock, as well as alternative music, tribal music, dubstep and jazz.
YouTube issued multiple copyright strikes in late 2013 against Dunne’s videos, for his use of his music and against other users who used his music with permission. All strikes were initiated by YouTube on behalf of TuneCore (the company that distributed Miracle of Sound’s music at the time). Although the incident was successfully resolved, Dunne stated that while TuneCore tried to help artists, their efforts did greater harm than good. He relies on let’s play and gaming videos to spread his music and make it popular.
From November 2014 to September 2019, Dunne joined video game critic Jim Sterling and gaming journalist Laura Kate Dale (Laura K Buzz on social media) on a weekly podcast, the Podquisition, which primarily discussed video game and pop culture related news. He left the show after episode 250, citing being blocked on Twitter by unnamed figures in the videogame industry who had been criticized by Sterling and/or Dale on the podcast.
Shortly before the Wasteland 2 Director’s Cut re-release in 2015, Dunne released a parody of the Dire Straits song “Money for Nothing”, titled “I want my RPG”. The lyrics of the song criticise modern free to play games, microtransactions and downloadable content and express the desire for more games of the old CRPG style. He did not include the song on any album, saying on Twitter that “It’s a parody of someone else’s song. Wouldn’t feel right to monetise it.” Dunne has also used his music to criticise quick time events in his Resident Evil 6 song “Wigglesticks”. It has been suggested that other indie games on limited budgets could improve the quality of their music by employing indie musicians such as Miracle of Sound.
After his success with “Commander Shepard”, Dunne met the BioWare marketing team, who were responsible for the Mass Effect series. This was while Dunne was in Germany at gamescom in August 2011. He also released “Normandy”, another Mass Effect song, based on Mass Effect 2. Dunne was involved in the Mass Effect 3 marketing campaign, working in coordination with BioWare. To raise awareness, Mark Meer and Jennifer Hale performed dramatic readings of portions of “Commander Shepard” in order to increase publicity. BioWare sent Dunne advanced footage to be used in creating a song and accompanying video music video based upon Mass Effect 3. This was so Dunne could release “Take it Back” at the same time as the game’s launch. Mass Effect 3 also featured a line from his song, “Commander Shepard”, where a character told the player to “fight as a Krogan.” Dunne wrote two more songs about the game, “Crucible” (later “Kalros”)
