Aaron Albano, born January 1, 1972, is better known as Ming (stylized by MING), an American record producer and song writer who has been nominated for a Grammy. MING was a prominent figure in the American drum and beat and turntablist movements of the late 1990s. He was joined by DJs like Z-Trip and DJ Spooky as well as J-Boogie, J-Boogie, DJ Craze, and The Beat Junkies.

MING was one half the experimental hip-hop/turntablist duo Ming + FS, which was founded in 1996. Breakbeats were the basis of most of their work. However, they are best known for their freedom to incorporate elements of electro, house, and drum and bass into their music. This smashed-up style was dubbed “junkyard” by the duo. It was a nickname that quickly gained attention in the dance music press and on their own releases, such as 1998’s “Junkyard drum ‘n’ bass”. Ming + FS has performed more than 1,000 live shows across the United States and internationally over the course of a decade. The duo released three albums together on San Francisco-based Om Records (Hell’s Kitchen, The Human Condition, and Subway Series). Ming + FS released a five-song EP Applied pressure on Sound Gizmo Records, and a fourth album entitled Back to One on NYC’s Spun Records. They also have many singles on Madhattan Studios. MING co- wrote five songs for Toby Lightman’s 2003 debut album, Little Things on Lava Records, a subsidiary Atlantic Records.

In 2010 MING wrote a monthly column in Electronic Musician magazine called Production Central which focussed on record production technics. He also had a monthly video blog on ElectronicMusician.com that was part artists interviews and part recording technics.
