Agossi’s mother is French and her father is from Benin. She began her career as Archie Shepp’s protege. She lived in Niger, Morocco, and the Ivory Coast with her mother, a mathematics professor. She started her career as an actress in theater. In 1993, she joined a Swing- and New Orleans Jazz Band with which she toured France and Ireland. After a while, she switched to Modern Jazz and began singing under her own name. She has been a member of a trio consisting of vocals, bass, and drums. They have linked her Jazz with other musical elements such as Chanson or Rock Music. They also covered Monk’s song “Well You Needn’t”, Jimi Hendrix’s song “Voodoo Children”, Pink Floyd’s song “Money”, and The Beatles’ song “And I Love Her”. After many years spent in Spain, she returned to France in 1991 and moved to Great Britain in 1993. She worked alongside Vincent Guerin.
She became more famous after the release of Voice & Bass. Her album EZ pass to Brooklyn was recorded in New York with Bertrand Perrin (Drums), and Alexander Hiele (Bass). It was recorded in 2001 after the September 11 attacks. The album was a stylistic mix of Hip-Hop & R&B. She has performed since her album Well You Don’t Need (2005) and was accompanied by Eric Jacot (Bass) and Ichiro Onoe(Drums). She also performed in Montreal’s Festival International de Jazz de Montreal and at Blue Note in New York. She co-wrote (Just Like a Lady), a song she wrote with Phil Reptil, guitarist and composer.
