Min Aung Hlaing is one of the most popular and richest Military Officer who was born on July 3, 1956 in Dawei, Myanmar. Min Aung Hlaing was conceived in Tavoy, Tenasserim Division of Burma (Myanmar), on the 3rd July 1956. Thaung Hlaing was his father and he worked for the Ministry of Construction as a civil engineer.
After leading an offensive in Kokang against the insurgent Myanmar Nationalities Democratic Alliance Army, he rose to prominence.
In June 2010, Min Aung Hlaing replaced General Shwe Mann as Joint Chief of Staff of the Army, Navy, and Air Force. On 30 March 2011 he became the new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Myanmar, replacing the outgoing head of state and junta chief, Senior General Than Shwe.
He was previously Joint Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Defence of Myanmar, and was promoted to four-star General in the early 2011 and five-star General in March 2013.
Min Aung Hlaing graduated from high school and commanded positions in Mon State. In 2002, he was promoted as commander of the Triangle Region Command, Eastern Shan State. He was also a key figure in negotiations between two rebel groups, the United Wa State Army and the National Democratic Alliance Army.
