Mimi Lo is one of the most popular and richest Singer who was born on December 30, 1974 in Hong Kong. Mimi Lo Manchong, born 30 December 1974, is a cantopop actress, singer, and radio DJ. She has released 11 studio albums, as well as appearing in many films, television dramas, and stage productions.

After seven years of dating, Lo finally married Power Chan in December 2009. Lo said that her husband didn’t know her as a singer or actress when they first met, but only as an actress.

In 2010, Lo appeared in an episode of the singing competition The Voice when contestant Penny Chan asked her to perform a duet with him during a round of competition. He chose her power ballad signature song, “挑戰者 The Challenger”. Her flawless rendition of the song garnered universal praise. Judge Anthony Lun mentioned during his critique, “I wish there are more singers in Hong Kong like Mimi.” Upon hearing this, Lo broke into tears. Lo then went on to thank the contestant for choosing her and her song as no one has sung her songs in 15 years. Host Sammy Leung then asked the audience to go pick Lo’s songs to sing at karaoke.

Lo signed with TVB in Hong Kong and began her acting career. Lo also became a radio DJ on Radio Television Hong Kong’s RTHK 2. She signed with Rock in Records, a local independent record label. In 2003 she began recording covers of English, Mandarin, and Cantonese songs for release as Super Audio cover albums for audiophiles. The Hong Kong public slowly lost Lo’s singer status due to the niche market of the Hong Kong audiophile market and the fact that Lo was a full-time actor.

Lo was signed to Warner Music Hong Kong’s 1995 instalment and released her first EP and studio album. This brought her immediate attention with her signature song, “Tiao Zhan Zhe The Challenger”, which became her biggest hit. At the 1995 Ultimate Song Chart Awards Presentation, she won the silver award as Most Promising Youngcomer.

Her second album was delayed due to personnel problems at Warner Music in 1996. The album was released in 1997, but it received very little promotion and was a complete failure commercially. Warner Music Hong Kong then dropped her. Lo then asked for her release from Music Sense’s management contract. Lo was then forced to take a three-year hiatus due to a clause in her contract that prohibited her from performing in public for three years. Her radio DJ friends offered her a job at Radio Television Hong Kong as a secretary and receptionist until the contract was lifted. Lo suffered from depression during this three-year period.

Her performance on the show sparked public interest in her past singing career on Hong Kong’s media forums. Upon airing of the episode, “挑戰者 The Challenger” hit number six on popular Hong Kong karaoke chain KKBox’s song chart on 1 July

2010. Lo suddenly found herself in the spotlight once again with media attention and newfound fans to her music. She was asked by TVB to co-host its long-time running music program, Jade Solid Gold with MC Jin starting 23 July
2011. She also released her compilation album, Very Meaningful with songs from her days at Warner Music in August 2010. Included is a re-recording of “挑戰者 The Challenger” as a bonus single. The album hit number 3 on YesAsia’s sales chart on 30 August 2010.
