Milyika Carroll is one of the most popular and richest Artist who was born on March 4, 1958 in Pukatja, South Australia, Australia. Milyika was born 1958 in Ernabella in northwest South Australia. It was then a Presbyterian mission for Aboriginal people. After she finished primary school, she attended high school at Yirara College and Saint Philips College in Alice Springs. After finishing high school, she moved back to Ernabella. Shortly, she worked in the community’s craft center making hand-painted bookmarks as well as gift cards. Batik techniques were introduced to her community in 1971.

Carroll was selected to attend the Australia 2020 Summit 2008 in Canberra. She and Makinti Mnutjukur represented the APY community. Since 2011, she has been active in Ernabella school administration, serving as chairwoman of Ernabella Anangu School’s Governing Council since 2011.

Carroll has been involved with Ernabella Arts administration for many years. From 2001 to 2003 she was its chairperson, then became its manager from 2004 through 2007, and again as its chairperson in 2007. From 2004 to 2006 she was the chairperson for Ananguku Arts and Culture Aboriginal Corporation, and from 2007 to 2010 she became its director. Ananguku Arts coordinates and supports the development of the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yakunytjara (APY), Lands’ art economy. Pepai, her husband, has served as chairman of the organization.
