Francois Delecour was the faster driver, especially on tarmac, during Biasion’s Ford tenure. Delecour’s accident on the road in 1994 forced him to miss a lot of the 1994 season. This exposed the team’s weaknesses. Due to insufficient resources, the Escort’s development fell behind other teams. Biasion’s relationship was worsened with the team as the season progressed. For the next year, he was dropped. He was then dropped from the WRC after contesting a few rallies for private companies. His 2 last WRC events were in the 2LWC before Colin McRae’s honor of ’95 World Rally Champion. But his true last WRC event was the RAC, now Wales Rally GB, which McRae won with Didier Auriol as ’94 World Rally Champion.

Biasion was born in Bassano del Grappa. He rose to prominence in 1980s when he won both the European and Italian Rally Championships 1983. Biasion drove a Lancia 037. In an Opel Kadett GT/E, he began to compete in rallying in 1979. Later, he was drafted to the Lancia World Rally Championship team. The squad sought to regroup following the death of Henri Toivonen. He would then go on to dominate Group A rallying and win the 1989 and 1989 world championships. Biasion won almost three quarters (or more) of the events he entered at his peak. Biasion was also the second driver to successfully defend his title (after Juha Kankkunen), and the third driver to win two titles (after Kankkunen, Walter Rohrl).
He was co-driven throughout his career by Tiziano Siviero. The only exception was the 1988 Portuguese Rally, where Siviero was replaced due to health issues by Carlo Cassina.
