Mike Talboy, a Democratic member of Missouri’s House of Representatives was born August 2, 1977. Talboy represented the 37th district, which included much of Kansas City south to the Missouri River and portions of the East Side. During the 96th General Assembly he was also House Minority Floor Leader. He is a practicing lawyer and currently serves as Burns & McDonnell Engineering Director of Governmental Affairs.

In 2012, Talboy moved to the new 24th District as a result redistricting after the 2010 United States Census. This included all of Downtown Kansas City. It also cut out the former 37th District’s heavily African American section and Democratic East Side section. It extended south through Midtown Kansas City (including Westport and Hyde Park and Volker) and portions of the more wealthy Country Club District, including the West Plaza, half of Country Club Plaza. Talboy registered to run in the new 24th District on February 28, 2012. He was unopposed in Democratic primary. However, he faced Jonathan Sternberg (a Kansas City lawyer who had no opposition in the Republican primary). Talboy resigned from the race on May 22nd 2012 to take over as Burns & McDonnell’s first Director of Governmental Affairs, thereby reopening Democratic primaries registrations. Talboy would not have been allowed to run for the Missouri House of Representatives if he had won.

After being elected in November 2006 to the Missouri House of Representatives, Talboy was re-elected in 2008 and 2010. Talboy was elected Chairman of the Missouri House Democratic Campaign Committee in December 2008. This committee supports Democrats during the 2010 elections. In 2008 and 2010, he ran unopposed in the Democratic primary as well as the general election.
