Michael Colin Spreitzer, a producer, mixer engineer and guitarist of American heavy metal band DevilDriver, was born February 10, 1981 in Torrance. After Dez Fafara, he is the only remaining original member. In 2004, he replaced Evan Pitts, guitarist. Michael wrote and performed on DevilDriver’s albums The Fury of Our Maker’s Hand (2005) and The Last Kind Words (2007). He also appeared on the album Beast (2011) Winter Kills (2013). Trust No One (2016). Outlaws ’til The End: Vol. 1 (2018).

Mike was a member of ESO, an alternative rock band based in London, and featured on their first single, “We Are Watching You”, from their new album, “Nothing Left to Lose”.

In April 2004, DevilDriver was set to open for Swedish heavy metal band In Flames on their first European tour. The tour was about to begin when DevilDriver’s guitarist Evan Pitts had to withdraw due to personal reasons. This left the band without a second guitarist. Jon Miller and Jeff Kendrick shared a home with Spreitzer at the time. Mike was immediately able to temporarily fill in for Pitts when he learned that he would not be touring Europe. Soon after DevilDriver returned home to Santa Barbara, Pitts decided to leave the band. Spreitzer was made a permanent member.

Mike joined the Santa Barbara-based heavy metal band Grolby in 2001 with future DevilDriver band members Jon Miller, John Boecklin and Jeff Kendrick. Grolby was disbanded eight months after Spreitzer joined. Mike formed an industrial-metal group called No Love Lost, with Cliff Ross and Dan Bellinger. Although there was enough material to make an entire album, it was never released.
