Chuck Priefer was a former NFL coach and special team coordinator. Priefer is his son. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy and served in the United States Navy from 1991 to 1994. He served as a helicopter pilot in the Persian Gulf. At Navy, he was a wide receiver and quarterback.
The Jacksonville Jaguars hired Priefer to be their Special Teams Coordinator for the 2002 season. He was replacing Frank Gansz. Tom Coughlin was the Jaguars’ head coach at the time and was fired. Jack Del Rio was appointed as the Special Teams Coordinator. Bill Bates was named as the replacement.
In 2011, Priefer was hired as special teams coach for the Minnesota Vikings.
