Mike Marlin, also known as Mike Adams, is a British singer- songwriter. He was born in Wimbledon, London on 17 February 1961. He attended Oxford University, where he studied physics at Magdalen College. In his final year, he dropped out and never graduated. He played bass in several student bands during this time.

He was selected by HMV for the Next Big Thing in January 2011, and performed at the Jazz Cafe, London on February 9, 2011.

Mike Marlin’s third album “Grand Reveal” was released on 8 April 2013. Songs include The Murderer and Skull Beneath the Skin.

Mike Marlin’s fourth album “The Secret of My Success” was released on 8 May

2016. The release was accompanied by a limited edition box set containing book of artwork by Colin Brown, the Scottish Collage artist and double LP. The latest incarnation of his backing band is The Melomaniacs, a trio consisting of Paul Silver on keys and Kim Murray on guitar.

Marlin was a supporter of The Stranglers’ 17-date UK “Black & Blue Tour” in March 2011. Marlin was there to support Big Country’s 18-date UK tour in April 2011.

Marlin’s debut single was a cover version of “Stayin’ Alive”, a Bee Gees disco song, from Saturday Night Fever in 1977. It was released 21 October 2010, to mixed reviews, and was not included on Marlin’s debut album “Nearly Man”, released 14 February 2011. This album also contained two singles: “Play That Game”, released 4 January 2011, and “No Place Like Home”, released 23 May 2011. These singles were well-received by critics and received significant airplay on independent radio stations, regional radio stations and BBC 6 Music. The video for “Play That Game”, which featured a destroyed office, attracted a lot of attention.

He retired from the business at 48. He founded AMP Music Productions, a small record company. With James Durrant, he recorded his first album, “Nearly Man”. The album was completed in December 2009. Marlin formed a band (“The Whethermen”) in 2010, and played a series gigs at small venues across the UK. A session he recorded for Selector Radio was broadcast on 12/11/10. He supported “From The Jam”, on their UK tour, in December 2010.

In February 2012 Mike released his second album Man on The Ground and went on to support The Stranglers around the UK and Europe on their Spring tour.
