Jungbauer, born February 9, 1958, is a Minnesota politician. He was formerly a member of the Minnesota Senate and represents District 48 in the northern half of the Twin Cities metropolitan region. This district covered parts of Anoka, Sherburne and other counties. He is a Republican and was first elected in 2002. He was re-elected in 2006, and again in 2010. He was mayor of East Bethel between 1998 and 2002 before becoming a senator.
Jungbauer’s views on climate change have been questioned. Some claims Jungbauer made about his education and degrees have been challenged. “He claims to have received a bachelor’s from the Moody Bible Institute, with a background in biochemistry.” MinnPost reported that he had not graduated and that the closest thing to a bachelor’s degree he has is a ministerial orderment from Christian Motorsports International. This organization provides “chapel service” at “races,” car shows, cruise-ins and tractor pulls. Although Metropolitan State University does not have an Environmental Policy program, his campaign website says he is “pursuing a degree there in Environmental Policy.”
Jungbauer declared his candidacy to run for Minnesota governor in 2010. On August 8, 2009, he officially launched his campaign from Anoka.
