The two recorded their first album Z21 in the first part of 2013 and released their first single “#Z21 (#Zeitgeist21)” in June 2013, shortly after Miho released her singles “Rising Heart”, a song used in a campaign for Coca-Cola, and “Beyond”, a song used for the anime Space Brothers.

Rainbow sold nearly 100,000 copies before becoming certified gold by Japan’s Recording Industry Association. Fukuhara then embarked on the Rainbow Tour 2009 which featured six shows in multiple cities. She performed covers and original Rainbow songs, as well as b-sides. In June 2009, she released “Hanabi Sky”, her next single. Another major hit single, it reached number 3 on the airplay charts. The single reached number 5 overall, but it only sold 26 copies. In early July, she quickly released her next single, “Let It out”, the second ending theme of Fullmetal Alchemist : Brotherhood. “Let it Out”, Fukuhara’s first major anime tie in, was also her first single to be published in three formats. It was released September 9, 2009. Although it was a bigger hit than Hanabi Sky, it still did poorly in terms both of physical and digital sales compared to her previous singles, “Love (Winter Song),” “Change”, and “Yasashii Aka”.
