However, he opted to withdraw from his letter of intent. McConnell signed with Saint Mary’s after considering UC Irvine, University of San Diego and other division 1 options. McConnell chose the Gaels for the “all-around environment and rise of the program.” I found the family culture and atmosphere to be a great fit. It was the best place to be successful, I believed.”
