Mickey Hatcher is one of the most popular and richest Baseball Player who was born on March 15, 1955 in Cleveland, Ohio, United States. American ex-professional baseball player and coach Michael Vaughn Hatcher was born March 15, 1955. From 1979 to 1990, he was an outfielder, first baseman, and third baseman in Major League Baseball. He also played for the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 1988 World Series. His most notable performance was as a player with the Dodgers, where he hit.368 (7/19), and scored two home runs.
His fun-loving attitude to baseball is what made him a favorite, especially on the 1988 World Champion Dodgers team. He was also featured in several presentations to the tune “Mickey Mouse Club”. After drawing walks, he would sprint to the first base and then sprint full speed around the bases. This earned him a lot media attention during the 1988 World Series. Joe Garagiola, NBC’s broadcaster, said that he was “The cover of The Saturday Evening Post!” He ran like he is afraid that they will take it off of the board! Hatcher only had one home run in 1988, but he hit two in the World Series.
Following his playing days, Hatcher was a coach for the Texas Rangers in 1993 and 1994, the manager of the Rookie League Great Falls Dodgers in 1996 and 1997 and began 1998 as the manager of the Single-A San Bernardino Stampede before becoming the hitting coach for the Dodgers in mid-season. In 2000, he became the hitting coach for the Los Angeles Angels, under manager Mike Scioscia, Hatcher’s teammate from the 1988 World Championship team. He was fired by the Angels on May 15, 2012, after the team started the season 16-21.
The Dodgers hired Hatcher in June as a special assistant to the General Manager. Hatcher’s position was not renewed in 2013.
From 1981 to 1986, he played for the Twins and hit.284 in 672 consecutive games. He then signed a free contract with the Dodgers on April 10, 1987.
