Courchesne was educated at College Jean-de-Brebeuf, then went to the Universite Montreal where she received a bachelor’s degree and a masters in urban development. Jean Charest named her in the Cabinet as Minister responsible for relations with Citizens and Immigration. She was then promoted to Employment and Social Solidity in 2005 after a Cabinet shuffle.
