Michel Christian Alain Aupetit, a French prelate in the Catholic Church, was born 23 March 1951. Since his installation on January 6, 2018, he has been the Archbishop of Paris. He was the Bishop of Nanterre from April 2014 to April 2015 and an Auxiliary bishop of Paris before that. He was a doctor before becoming a priest. He practiced medicine for over twenty years.
After completing his studies for the priesthood at Paris’ seminary, he was ordained as a priest in the Archdiocese of Paris at 44 years old. He served as vicar first of the Church of Saint-Louis-en-l’Ile from 1995 to 1998, and then of Saint-Paul-Saint-Louis from 1998 to 2001. From 1995 to 2001, he was also the chaplain at the Marais’ high and middle schools. From 2001 to 2006, he was assigned to the parish of Eglise Notre-Dame-de-l’Arche-d’Alliance [fr] , and dean in the Pasteur-Vaugirard deanery from 2004 to 2006.
Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Nanterre on 4 April 2014 and he was installed there on 4 May.
