Michael Villines is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on March 30, 1967 in San Jose, California, United States. Villines authored AB 1887, which created a high-risk pool for Californians with preexisting conditions to provide health-care coverage. Federal funds were directed through the Affordable Health Care For America Act. The bill was passed with bipartisan support in the California Assembly as well as the Senate. It was highly praised for its ability address the problem of those who were unable to get health insurance. He also supports AB 2561, which creates California Department of Energy (CDOE). I was determined not to let California fail and to the best I could to solve the problem. And so I worked with Dave, Karen, Darrell and Governor Schwarzenneger to craft a budget compromise… But in the end, we believed it was practical, fair, and the only way to get California on the road to recovery…I learned that courage is taking the hard road even when there is an easy way out. And I gained a real understanding of what politics should be – putting the interests of the people ahead of what’s easy or best for my career.”

His colleagues chose Villines in November 2006. He served as Republican leader for two years. This made him one of the longest-serving leaders over the past 25 year (due to term limits). He succeeded George Plescia, La Jolla. Plescia succeeded Kevin McCarthy, who resigned to run for Congress.
