Michael P. Kitt is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on May 17, 1950 in Tuam, County Galway, Ireland. Michael Kitt is from a political family. He is the son of Michael Kitt Snr., who was a TD in various Galway constituencies from 1948-1951 to 1957-1975, and a brother to Tom Kitt, a former Dublin South TD, and Aine Brady, a former Kildare North TD. Gerry Brady, his brother-in law, was also TD for Kildare from 1982 to 1982.
He was a Minister of state at the Department of the Taoiseach during this time, serving three months between November 1991 and February 1992. After losing his Dail seat in the 2002 general elections, he was nominated by Taoiseach for the 22nd Seanad. At the 2007 general election, he was re-elected as Dail member. He was elected Minister of State for Overseas Development in June 2007. He was named Minister of State at the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government in May 2008. This position included special responsibility for Local Services. He held this position until April 2009, when he was removed in a reshuffle.
He did not contest the 2016 general election and retired from politics.
Kitt lost his Dail seat in 1977’s general election, but was elected by the Administrative Panel to Seanad Eireann. He served until 1981 as a member the 14th Seanad. Kitt was re-elected to Dail in 1981 for the new Galway East, and he retained his seat until 2002.

Michael Paschal Kitt, born 17 May 1950, is an ex-Irish Fianna Fail politician. He served as Leas–Cheann Comhairle of Dail Eireann between 2011 and 2016, Minister of State in Local Services from 2008-2011, Minister of State in Overseas Development (2007-2008) and Chief of Staff at the Department of the Taoiseach (1991-92). From 1975-77 to 1981-2002 and 2007-16, he was a Teachta Daila (TD), for Galway East. After being Nominated by Taoiseach, he was a senator from 2002 to 2007. He also served as a member of the Administrative Panel from 1977 to 1981.
After the death of his father (also named Michael Kitt), he was elected to succeed him on Galway County Council in 1975. He was elected to the Galway North-East By-election on March 4th with a 7% majority, beating Paul Connaughton Snr, the Fine Gael candidate.
On 31 March 2011, he was appointed as the Leas-Cheann Comhairle of Dáil Éireann by the Taoiseach Enda Kenny.
