With a time of 1:10:28 for fourth at Humarathon, she was close to her personal best. She was five seconds short of the course record at the Corrida De Langueux, where she beat all the comers. She also finished on the podium at the Lille-Boulgoncourt half-marathons that year.
Her 2006 season was highlighted by her win at Lille Half Marathon, where she ran a personal record of 1:1:36 hours. She kept her titles at Oloron Sainte Marie and Maroilles 20K races. She also ran a personal best 10K time of 32:47 minutes at Istanbul 10K. Elvan Abeylegesse was second. She also ran a 15K in 48:51 minutes, which was her best time. Maroilles was her 2007 start. She won a third consecutive win. She was able to beat Mary Keitany by a mere second at the Lille Half Marathon. She won the Le Lion Half Marathon in September and the Paris-Versailles Race in a matter of weeks. She won the Paris 20Kilometres and finished third in the Istanbul 15K the following month.

Wangari won her first race while she was based in the United Kingdom. In 2001, she won the Swansea Bay 10K and then won the Windsor Half Marathon women’s title a week later. The following year, she won the Swansea 10K again. In 2003 and 2004, she won consecutively at the Cardiff 10K as well as the Bristol Half Marathon. She ran a personal best time of 1:58 hours at the Bath Half Marathon, March 2003. Deborah Robinson was a close second. After winning the Goteborgsvarvet, she returned to Sweden to win the Stroud Half Marathon. In October, she won the Stroud Half Marathon. She then reached the top of the podium for the 2004 Bath Half Marathon. She ran the Glasgow Half Marathon in 1:02 hours, which was her fastest run of 2004, and finished second behind Beatrice Omwanza.
Wangari moved to France in 2005 for the 2005 season. She raced extensively on France’s road races circuit. Among her victories were the Semi-Marathon d’Oloron Sainte Marie 20 kilometres, Semi-Marathon d’Oloron Sainte Marie Half Marathon, Alencon-Medavy15K and Foulee Suresnoise10K. Boulogne Billancourt Half Marathon won her in a course record of 1:02 hours. At the Reims a Toutes Jambes Half Marathon, she improved her personal record to 1:11:54.
The 2010 season saw Wangari retain her titles at the Corrida Langueux, Foulée Suresnoise and Paris-Versailles races. Over the half marathon, she was fifth at the Paris Half Marathon and ran a season’s best of 1:12:19 hours to win at the Marrakech Half Marathon. She continued her winning streaks at the Corrida Langueux and Foulée Suresnoise into 2011. Her fastest run that year was 1:11:10 hours, which brought her the title at the Saint Denis Half Marathon. She made her debut over the marathon distance at the 2012 Xiamen Marathon in China and although she was some minutes behind the winner Ashu Kasim, she claimed second place with a debut time of 2:31:30 hours.
