Meredith Stern is one of the most popular and richest Artist who was born on August 31, 1976 in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, United States. Meredith is a vegetarian and vegan since 1991.

Stern curated Sustainability in 2008, a show featuring local RI printmakers as well as Justseeds members.

Her work has been published in several poster collection books, most recently including “Green Patriot Posters: Images for a New Activism” edited by Dmitri Siegel and Edward Morris [2010], Metropolis Books, and “Celebrate People’s History!: The Poster Book of Resistance and Revolution” edited by Josh MacPhee, the Feminist Press [2010]. She was interviewed in 2011 by “The Art Of Dismantling.”

In 2012 she coordinated a print portfolio project called “This is an Emergency!” The project combines visual images and intergenerational essays. Over 2 dozen people collaborated to create work about gender justice. This portfolio is now in University archives around North America including the Sarah Doyle Women’s Center at Brown University, Keene State College, Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, and many others.

Stern moved to Providence in Rhode Island in 2003. Stern spent many years as AS220’s Program Director. She is a linoleum-block printer and a member the Justseeds Artist Cooperative. She co-curated the 2006 “Pocket Change”, a show featuring 15 contemporary printers at AS220. Jo Dery and Mike Taylor, Neil Burke, Xander Morarro, Kenn Speiser. Pippi Zornoza was also present. Jenny Nichols, Cybele Collin, Meredith Stern. Alec Thibodeau. Kasey Henman, Shawn Gilheeney. Brian Chippendale, Katie Truskoski. Meredith and Erik Ruin also collaborated in 2006 on “Rude Awakenings”, a two-person show at Art of This Gallery, Minneapolis, Minnesota. Stern was also responsible for the chapter “Subversive Multiples”: A Conversation Between Contemporary Printmakers on radical printmakers. This chapter is part of the Josh MacPhee / Erik Ruin book Realizing the Impossible. (AK Press 2007).

Stern attended George School in high school. In 1998, Stern graduated from Tulane University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. in ceramics. She was a co- author with Brice White and Icky Aparatus, and created Nowe Miasto. This warehouse space, which is self-sufficient, has hosted hundreds of workshops and bands. She lived in New Orleans and wrote several zines including Mine: An anthology for Women’s Choices as well as Mine: An anthology for Reproductive Choices. Her first band, the Foreheads, featured Alec Dunn (Icky), on Tuba and Stella Schumaker (guitar). They released a split 7″ with Nazis From Mars on Raw Sugar Records in 2001. She was a member of The Accident, a band that she performed with Deanna Hitchcock. She was part of a short-lived band that she formed with Adee Roberson (from the band New Bloods), and Lacey, and Billy in a band called Blood Truck. She played drums with Jo Dery (artist), Mikey Stoltz, (bass), and Kate Gronner (formerly from The Coughs) in Teenage Waistband. Two cassette tapes were released by them. She was a drummer in Chastity Wig from 2008 to 2009, along with Mike Stoltz and Robert Pickle (of Sexy Prison).

In March 2009 and May 2013 she collaborated with other members of the Justseeds Artist Cooperative on an art installation at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. In 2012 she was part of the installation of the Justseeds “Agit-Prop and Intervention” show in Berlin, Germany. In 2011 she was part of installing “Refuge” at Gallery Alkatraz in the 29th Graphics Biennial in Slovenia. In July 2008 she collaborated on a Justseeds installation titled “Out of the Shell of the Old” at Space1026 in Philadelphia, Pa.
